Streaming today is, well, mainstream. Almost nobody really watches TV like we used to anymore, zapping through an endless enfilade of channels to find something that could be entertaining and would keep us mildly focused on it. Streaming on apps such as Hulu or Netflix is far more comfortable, with programs fit for everybody, without commercial cuts and available whenever you want. But there’s a major impediment, the cost. Netflix and other streaming apps can be expensive, specially outside the country they were made in. But fear not! Here’s Tubi.
Tubi: a cinema at the reach of your hand
Tubi is a FOX owned free streaming service that offers TV shows, movies on demand, as well as live TV news and sports programs, rated as one of the top free streaming apps available out there. Instead of the usual free trial, asking for your credit card information, logging in and monthly subscription, Tubi is pretty much giving all of its content for free. There is just one condition for this: intermittent commercial breaks. This is necessary in order to generate revenue.
Tubi, unlike Netflix, does not generate its own original content. Instead, Tubi relies on other studios, such as Metro Goldwyn Mayer.
Tubi’s features
Tubi’s features (or lack thereof) are pretty much normal amongst a streaming app, allowing you to stream whatever you want to see anywhere and anytime for free, switching through an endless array of options. As previously stated, Tubi lacks many features. For example, Tubi is full of random, junk shows and tons of generic movies and shows, previously unheard of. The app isn’t really close to the quality of paid streaming services in terms of content. It does have a lot of things to choose from, like its feature films and some shows. Tubi’s shows are mostly equally deficient, with some cult favorites like ALF.
Tubi’s plans
Unlike most streaming apps (specially paid ones) Tubi does not require you to sign up to enjoy all of its content, just head to TubiTV.com and enjoy the show, it’s literally just that simple.
Despite not needing to sign up, you can sign up for free. This enhances your user experience. By creating an account, you can start a queue of movies and shows to watch and resume when needed. This function could be handy in case you want to switch devices mid-streaming, something all other streaming apps have.
Tubi’s downsides
Tubi has sadly many downsizes, all of them related to its functioning and features. Tubi is known for being laggy and slow, with many random interruptions due to Wi-Fi signal, since it uses a lot of data. Tubi’s content leaves a lot to wish, with barely some known titles, and then tons and tons of junk filling shows, some of them literally unknown and with very low ratings, turning the app into pretty much a haven for low quality content. The app’s commercial breaks are known for being intrusive, some of them popping up between 10 minute intervals.
A brief overview on the app
Tubi is definitely a good choice for free streaming, an app with thousands and thousands of titles, offering pretty much any cinematic gender out there. Despite its downsides, like its intrusive commercial breaks and lack of good content, Tubi is worth trying. After all it is free and includes some interesting options such as the queue function to keep our shows and movies paused in the exact minute you stopped watching in case you need to switch devices or the option to not sign up and use it like any other site. Overall, Temu is an interesting choice.
