Clash of Clans is a strategy game developed by the company Supercell, in which the player becomes the head of a fantasy village inhabited by all kinds of characters. The main objective is to organize and manage the village, using resources that the player can obtain in different ways.
The app developed in 2012 offers a fantastic experience, allowing the player to interact with all the mechanics that the game has to offer. With the possibility of playing solo or interacting with other players through alliances and clans, or fighting battles through its PvP system.
Gameplay and game elements
The game is built around 3 types of resources, elixir, gold and dark elixir, which we can collect or obtain from other players. These serve mainly to improve the buildings and troops of the village, but can also be used to buy decorations or make temporary improvements. There are also gems, which are a premium currency obtained by performing specific tasks or purchased in the store with real money.
As already mentioned, the player has the option to search for other players' bases to attack them and obtain resources. Each battle gives or takes trophies away from the player depending on its outcome. The more trophies the player wins, the higher the ranking, obtaining prizes and rewards for reaching higher and higher leagues.
The villages are made up of different buildings, each one fulfilling a different function. Among these we find:
- The town hall, is the main building of the village, it is in charge of maintaining resources and defending the village at higher levels.
- Resource collectors, which produce the 3 vital resources to improve the village.
- Training camps, which serve to house the troops to be used in attacks. Their level determines the number of troops that each one can hold.
- Barracks, they are in charge of producing the troops.
- Defenses, they are one of the most important buildings, since they are in charge of defending your village when other players attack you.
Over time, Clash of Clans has also introduced elements such as spells and heroes, which are main characters that help the player with their attacks, each one having a different set of skills and useful functions.
Clans and alliances in game
The game has a platform to form clans, which are communities of up to 50 players where each player can interact through chat, as well as request help by asking for troops and sharing their base design for others to advise them.
Another fun feature of clans is the ability to wage wars with other clans for resources and league points. Clan leaders can select how many players they want to participate, choosing from 5vs5, up to 50vs50.
World expansion
In 2017 Clash of Clans released the secondary village, an expansion to the game that allowed players access to a new base with its own unique resources. In addition to other innovative mechanics, such as its new live combat system, where two players face off in real time to see who can destroy the other's village the most.
Another expansion to the game was the introduction of the clan capital, a headquarters where all participants of a clan contribute to the construction of a series of shared bases. This has been accompanied by the raid mode, where different clans compete against each other. The objective is to destroy as many bases of other clans as possible, as this awards gold and medals that are used to improve one's own bases.
